PropertyMetrics NZ respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal information when you interact with our website and platform.

The data controller responsible for your personal information is Property Metrics NZ Limited (NZBN 9429053321145, NZ company number 9391764), registered at 39 May Street, Mount Maunganui 3116, New Zealand.

Information we collect

We may collect the following types of information:

  • Email addresses submitted for early access, account registration, newsletters, or enquiries.
  • Basic contact details you voluntarily provide when communicating with us.
  • Usage and interaction data (such as pages visited, features used, and general activity) to improve platform performance.
  • Technical information such as device type, browser type, and approximate location (non-precise).
  • Property addresses and search queries entered into our tools.
  • Portfolio entries, saved properties, calculations, and reports — stored in Google Cloud Firestore when you are signed in to an account.

How we use your information

  • To provide, operate, and improve the platform and its features.
  • To communicate updates, feature releases, early-access notices, or service-related messages.
  • To send our newsletter — occasional NZ property insights and product updates — only where you have ticked the newsletter opt-in at sign-up. You can unsubscribe at any time and we record the date you opted in.
  • To respond to enquiries, support requests, or feedback.
  • To monitor usage trends and improve reliability and security.
  • To generate property analysis reports and location insights.
  • To connect you with licensed real estate professionals, mortgage brokers, or investment advisors — only where you have given explicit consent.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain sessions and remember preferences. We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID: G-7VCHPVEDKC, operated by Google LLC, USA) on all pages to understand how visitors interact with the platform. GA4 collects anonymised data including pages visited, session duration, device type, and approximate location. This data is processed on Google's servers in the United States. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or your browser's privacy controls.

Overseas disclosure (IPP 12)

Some of your personal information is transferred to and stored or processed in countries outside New Zealand, including the United States, in connection with our use of Google Firebase, Google Analytics, Netlify, and Formspree. We take reasonable steps to ensure these overseas providers maintain privacy protections consistent with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. By using the Services you acknowledge that your personal information may be transferred overseas in this way.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party providers who may process your personal information on our behalf:

  • Firebase Authentication & Firestore (Google LLC, USA) — account login, identity management, and cloud storage of your portfolio and report data. Firebase Privacy
  • Patrick Costelloe, Enva Financial Adviser — where you voluntarily submit a finance enquiry form, your name, email address, and phone number will be shared with Patrick Costelloe for the purpose of arranging a free financial review. This sharing only occurs with your explicit consent at the time of submission. PropertyMetrics NZ may receive a referral fee or commission if you proceed with the adviser; this costs you nothing and you are under no obligation.
  • Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC, USA) — web analytics and usage measurement.
  • Netlify (Netlify Inc., USA) — website hosting and content delivery. As our hosting provider, Netlify processes standard web server data such as IP addresses and request logs.
  • Formspree (Formspree Inc., USA) — delivery of contact and enquiry form submissions, including any name, email address, or message you provide in those forms.
  • OpenStreetMap / Overpass API — nearby amenity lookups (no personal data sent).
  • LINZ, Stats NZ, GeoNet, MBIE — New Zealand government open data APIs (no personal data sent).

These providers are required to handle data securely and in accordance with applicable privacy laws. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Any lead-sharing or data partnership will be clearly disclosed with an opt-in mechanism.

Data storage and security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, or disclosure. However, no online system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

When you are signed in, your portfolio properties, saved calculations, reports, and First Home Buyer data are stored in Google Cloud Firestore (Google LLC, USA). Profile photos and property cover photos you upload are also stored in Google Cloud Firestore. Your browser's local storage is used as a temporary cache only. We take reasonable steps to protect this data from unauthorised access, but no online system can be guaranteed completely secure. You may request deletion of all your account data at any time via our Contact page.

Share links. When you create a shareable link for a property, a read-only snapshot of that property's shared metrics becomes viewable by anyone who has the link, without needing an account, until you revoke the link from your portfolio. Private fields such as your notes and target price are never included in a shared snapshot.

Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil its purpose, comply with legal obligations, or support legitimate business operations. You may request deletion of your data at any time.

Your rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or outdated information.
  • Request deletion of your personal information where appropriate.
  • Withdraw consent for data sharing or marketing communications.

If you have a privacy concern that we have not resolved to your satisfaction, you can raise it with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Policy updates
